What’s it like being a Commercial & Ag Tire Technician
at Schierl Tire & Auto Service?

  • What are the hours?

Commercial/Farm Tire Technicians work full time outdoors, Monday through Friday with rotating On-Call for after hours service calls.

    Where is the work performed?

Wherever it’s needed! Commercial/Farm Tire Technicians go where the big vehicles are, working outside and on-site on the farm, at warehouses, by the road, and wherever their expertise is needed. Work outside, year-round.

What type of tools are provided?

Techs all have their own company-provided service truck, tools, and cellphone. Everything you’ll need for a service call will be in your mobile office.

What else is cool about this work environment?

If you’re mechanically inclined and love working outdoors, we will provide the education you need in a 6-8 week training schedule. Your office will always change as you go where you’re needed, when you’re needed, keeping our farmers, truckers, and industrial sites rolling.

  • Do you offer training or continuing educations benefits?

Continued technical education is part of the job with ongoing in-house training.

What are the opportunities for career growth?

We offer a career growth path, with performance-based advancement opportunities.

    What's the performance review process?

There is a pay & performance review every 6 months.

What type of safety training is required?

Annual safety evaluations and ongoing monthly inspections.

How do Techs work with and mentor younger Techs?

We work as a team, so any time you need help, questions answered, or additional training, someone will be there to help. You’ll be learning all sorts of stuff on the job!

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We help support local fundraising efforts via our parent company, Team Schierl Companies. This includes sponsoring local sports, donating to schools, and supporting the arts in the communities we serve.

Do you work with local schools to encourage students to enter the profession?

We offer a youth apprenticeship and tech college apprenticeship, as well as tuition assistance via a partnership with Midstate Technical College and Northcentral Technical College.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

We are continuing to grow and expand to better serve Wisconsin. In 2023 alone, we opened a new location in Tomahawk and added 2 commercial/farm service trucks, bringing our fleet up to 20 trucks.

  • How do I apply?

We have an online form that only takes about five minutes to fill out. When you send it in, it goes directly to our team!

    Do you take walk-in applications?

Sure! You’re welcome to fill out an application at one of our shops, and we will follow up with you to schedule an in-person interview.

    What's the in-person interview like?

We meet with you for about an hour or less to get to know you. You’ll interview with one of our division managers to discuss your skills, get to know you as a person, and talk about what we can provide you to help build your career.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests?

We do require a drug test, and we also have a type of personality test. Don’t worry, the personality test doesn’t find out what kind of car you are or anything, it’s mostly to help people understand how different people communicate and how to work together.

When will I know if I have the job?

You’ll know as soon as we do!

Will I have to accept the job right away?

Nope. Building a career takes time, so we don’t want to rush you into a decision. Obviously we’ll be excited for you to join us, but sleep on it at least! If you pass on a position, or if we don’t have an opening for your dream job just yet, we will keep you in mind for later.
